The doors were open wide at Lord of Life for all creatures great and small, along with their human friends, on Saturday September 29. 2007. The 6th Annual “Blessing of the Animals” brought together members of Lord of Life and friends from the community to celebrate the companionship and joy brought to lives by our pets. The event provides an opportunity to bring pets to church for a special blessing with their owners. It is also an opportunity to learn more about pets and companion animal services in the area, nation and even international programs.
This year featured Heather Dwyer from Rainbow Pets. Heather and her assistants brought an interesting assortment of exotic pets, ranging from an armadillo to a tarantula. A chinchilla, hedge hog, tortoise, several snakes and lizards were also shown. Heather shared information about each of the animals including their native range, diet and other special characteristics about them. All enjoyed this wonderful opportunity to learn more about God’s creatures.
Eileen Tzsuki and her violin students provided special music before and during our worship service. Monetary contributions received will be shared with Tsunami and Hurricane Katrina animal programs and projects coordinated by Lutheran World Relief and partner agencies.
